After over 10 years of participating with New London’s Adopt A Family, which provides families in need with gifts for the holidays, Brown school decided to do something that benefits those closer to home.
This is Brown School’s 3rd year partnering with Shoreline Youth and Family Services. Many shoreline families rely on state and local assistance for food and other household necessities. Brown school students and staff are once again collecting gift cards to supply to local teenagers in need. Teens between the ages of 13 and 18 are often overlooked by gift programs. Gift cards to places such as Stop and Shop, Big Y, Amazon, Forever 21, Justice, Dicks Sporting Goods, RJ Julia, Walmart, CVS pharmacy, etc. are just a few of the many cards we hope to collect. We also like to provide these teens parents with gift cards to help purchase household items, groceries and other holiday necessities.
In the spirit of community service and to promote altruism among our students, we at Brown encourage students to do chores around the house to earn contributions rather than just asking their parents to buy a gift card or donate money. All donations, large or small are appreciated. The shoreline families are grateful for whatever is provided for them this holiday season.

In our first year, over $3200 in gift cards were donated. Last year, our second year, the Brown community was able to provide the Shoreline Youth and Family Services with over $3500 in gift cards. This year we collected over $2600. That is a total of 124 gift cards. The students and staff feel great about giving back to the community. Brown is a school of giving back.
Thank you and have a wonderful Holiday. Feel good in knowing that as a Brown school family member, you helped make someone’s holiday much brighter!!!!!
