MADISON, CT — The Madison Democratic Town Committee will honor longtime Madison residents Joan Walkerand Paul Kessinger with the 2026 Jack & Helen Davis Awards at a special event on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at a private residence in Madison.
Named in honor of the late Jack and Helen Davis, the annual awards recognize individuals whose leadership, volunteerism, and civic commitment have made a lasting impact on the Madison community. Over many decades, the Davises helped shape the town through their contributions to education, civic life, philanthropy, and community engagement.
This year’s honorees reflect that same enduring spirit of service.
Joan Walker has been a dedicated leader in Madison civic life for more than thirty years. A former Chair of the Madison Democratic Town Committee, she has served on numerous town boards and committees while also volunteering extensively with local schools, arts organizations, youth initiatives, and community programs. Professionally, Joan is a founding director of UNAPEN and has built a distinguished career in financial services operations and technology management.
Paul Kessinger is being recognized for his longstanding commitment to civic involvement, volunteerism, and community service. Following a successful national career in media, marketing, and product development — including work on the launch of USA Today — Paul has devoted years to local public service, including work with Madison pension boards, the Connecticut River Museum, and numerous community initiatives.
“The Davis Awards recognize individuals whose dedication strengthens the civic fabric of Madison,” said Jes Joseff,Chair of the Madison Democratic Town Committee. “Joan Walker and Paul Kessinger have each contributed enormously to our community through leadership, volunteerism, and public engagement, and we are proud to honor them this year.”

The event will include remarks from community leaders and elected officials and will celebrate the continuing importance of grassroots involvement and public service in Madison.
The event will be held at a private residence in Madison. The address will be provided upon RSVP.
