Special Effects Makeup: Monsters, Wounds & More!
Ever wonder how movies and theater make scars, bruises, creepy creatures, and gruesome gashes look so real? Now it’s your turn to learn the tricks of the trade!
Open to students in 3rd grade and up!
In this hands-on Special Effects Makeup Workshop, participants will explore the art of transforming an ordinary face or arm into something straight out of a movie. Learn techniques for creating realistic-looking cuts, scars, bruises, wounds, disfigurements, and prosthetic effects, then use makeup, texture, color, and a little imagination to bring monsters, creatures, spooky characters, and unfortunate “victims” to life.
Participants will get the chance to experiment with different special effects materials and techniques while learning how to create convincing effects for theater, film, and Halloween.
Whether you want to create a hideous monster, a mysterious creature, or a character who looks like they’ve had a VERY bad day, this workshop is all about getting creative, getting creepy, and making the unbelievable look frighteningly real!
No previous makeup or special effects experience needed. Just bring your imagination and your best monster face!
