A driver who apparently got forward and reversed mixed up drove her car through the front of Thursday afternoon, the store manager says.

Emergency responders arrived one the scene, at 1333 Boston Post Road, shortly after 1:45 p.m. Thursday.

Store Manager Jeff Wagner said he was relieved everyone appears to be OK after initial assessments, including the driver, and said workers were pulling off the trim around the damaged window and will be boarding it up. The store will remain open for normal hours today and throughout the holiday week, he said.

How's he doing?

"Just fantastic," he said, then laughed.

He repeated that he was glad that everyone appeared to be OK.

"A lady got into her car in the parking lot. She had her foot on the gas. She wanted to go in reverse, but she hit drive instead. Fortunately, everyone is fine."

Jeff Wagner's father, Jack Wagner, got to the store shortly after the crash. "I was going there at the time to give him some things."

Jeff's father Jack arrived at the store to find the car through the store window, close to where his son works. "We are glad he is not hurt. There was not much between him and the car."

Jack Wagner said his son told him "it felt like everything was moving in slow motion but then the glass started to fly all around. Besides the broken front window, the shelves, the liquor bottles shatered so there was glass all over. We are happy nobody was injured, that is for sure."

Jack Wagner said he was glad the business will stay open. "It is just the worst possible time for anything to impact the Christmas business for the store. I got there right after the crash and it was unreal to see that car half in and out of the store."

Jeff Wagner said Thursday afternoon that repairs are in progress. "We are going to stay open."
