OLD SAYBROOK, CT - The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, “the Kate”, welcomes back contemporary jazz super group Special EFX All-Stars featuring Chieli Minucci on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 7:30 pm.
Guitarist, composer, producer, and arranger Chieli Minucci is longtime leader of the Grammy-nominated jazz-fusion group SPECIAL EFX featuring Chieli Minucci, a major force on the jazz and world music scene for over 40 years. Chieli and Special EFX recently released “Meant To Be”, the new chart-topping single as follow up to their summer of 2024 Billboard hit single, “Cool Summer.”
Group members include vocalist Elliott Yamin, a finalist on the fifth season of “American Idol;” keyboardist Lao Tizer, a rising star in the world-fusion genre; bassist David Livolsi who has worked with John Scofield, Bill Evans, Roberta Flack and others; and Joel Rosenblatt, a world-renowned drummer and producer who recorded with Lee Ritenour, Spyro Gyra, Chic Corea and others in the jazz and rock worlds.
