Daniel Hand Cruises Into State Football Finals

The opponents for next Saturday's four state championship games were determined in semifinal matchups Sunday.

MADISON, CT — Daniel Hand High School earned an opportunity to go for its 12th state football championship by trouncing third-seeded Windsor 31-6 in a Class L semifinal matchup Sunday afternoon.

Head coach David Mastroianni's troops, seeded No. 2, will play fifth-seeded Masuk for the title on Saturday, Dec. 9, at a location and time to be determined. The Panthers eliminated defending champion New Canaan, 28-14.

The Tigers are 11-6 overall in state title games, with their last victory coming in 2012, while Masuk is 3-6, last winning in 2010.
