Daniel Hand High School in Madison Ranked as One of the Top High Schools in America

The school was highly ranked in Newsweek Magazine's 2014 list.

Daniel Hand High School in Madison was ranked among the top 500 high schools in America in a recent list released by Newsweek.

A total of 13 Connecticut high schools made the list with Daniel Hand High School ranked 179 on the list, making it the second highest ranked high school in the state.

According to the New Haven Register, this is the second time this month the high school has received recognition. The school was ranked seventh in the state this month for overall performance by the Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now.

Thomas Scarice, superintendent of Madison’s schools, told the Register the rankings were quite a compliment but they try to take a measured approach not getting too high or low with the news.
