Despite Delays Madison Will Be Reimbursed For Downtown Center Project: Report

Madison's First Selectman Thomas Banisch had raised concerns that the state was not paying the town for reimbursement grants.

MADISON, CT — Some concern was set off when First Selectman Thomas Banisch said the state still owes Madison more than $1 million in reimbursement grant money for the Madison Downtown Center Project, the Madison Source reports.

Banisch said the state has not paid the town and even recently they still refused. But just this week state lawmakers say the state funds should be in Madison within a few weeks. The town has received five grants totaling $1.85 million and has only received $250,000 from the state.

Phase 1 of the project was completed last summer which included sidewalk upgrades, new light poles, and bike racks.
