MADISON, CT — Scotland Road was closed mid-day Sunday between River and Acorn roads due to a downed tree, according to Madison police.

The tree fell across the road, snapping two utility poles and bringing wires down, police said in a social media post shortly before 1 p.m.

"Please avoid the area and seek alternate routes," police said. "Utility crews are on scene, but the closure is expected to remain in place for an extended period."
