During True Bikram’s Celebration Saturday, Massage As A Path To Healing
Please join us Saturday! Everyone is welcome. Get a free chair massage, a free happiness consultation, a free yoga class, a great deal on waxing and facials, and more.
After many years as a stay-at-home mom of five sons, Nancy Grigor of Madison was looking for a way to calm her mind and to help relieve tension and stress.
“I discovered that the benefits of massage not only helped me feel balanced physically, it helped me mentally and emotionally as well,” she says. “The healing effect goes way beyond the time you are on the table. Regular massage helps you unwind, lowers blood pressure, promotes muscle relaxation and boosts your immune system.”

In addition to Grigor’s massages, Emily Filloramo, who is based in Glastonbury, will be offering complimentary happiness consultations. There also will be a Shakti Activewear Pop Up trunk show and a sale on facials and waxing services offered by Marta at True Bikram. The festivities start at 9:30 a.m. and run until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Filloramo will be doing complimentary 10-minute consultations during that time and Grigor will be offering chair massages. The free yoga class is at 4 p.m.
The celebration is a great way to get prepared for a happy, healthy summer!
Grigor, a licensed massage therapist and Certified Holistic Health Counselor, graduated from CT Center for Massage Therapy in 2000 and graduated from Institute of Integrative Nutrition in 2005. For the past 14 years her goal has been to help people relax, find their inner peace, and rejuvenate their souls.
“At True Bikram Yoga, massage is a perfect way to compliment your practice and find your balance,” she says.
Grigor began her journey into healing with her grandmother, Carol Reid, a medicine woman on the Nooksak Tribe in Deming, WA.
“My grandmother inspired me in looking at alternative ways to healing the body, mind and spirit. Working from the heart with love is how I live and work with people everyday,” she says.
Grigor created the day spa Rituals in Guilford, CT in 2004.
“I created a beautiful organic healing sanctuary, offering massage, facials, nail services and yoga. After many years of running this 5,000 square-foot day spa, I knew I needed to get back to my own healing practice,” she says. “Running this business instead of actually doing the hands-on healing like I once did made me realize how much I missed it.
Grigor sold Rituals in 2008 and “now I love giving massage and helping people find their way back to a more relaxed state of living!”
Grigor cites the following health benefits of human touch: relief of stress and anxiety, muscle relaxation, blood pressure control, better circulation, pain reduction, and improved quality of sleep. For people who are undergoing cancer treatment, she says it sometimes can help enhance that treatment.
Also on Saturday, True Bikram owner Robin Brace, from Guilford, will be on hand, along with others from True Bikram to talk about how Bikram Yoga contributes to weight loss and general fitness results that you can achieve at a gym, but with more efficient results, in a simpler model.
“We combine the motivation of the personal training experience, the social experience of the gym and the stress relief and mental clarity that takes it from a fitness regime to a lifestyle of health and wellness,” Brace said.

Bikram Yoga is a demanding series of 26 postures and two breathing exercises, suitable for all ages and levels of ability. Each posture stretches, strengthens and prepares specific muscles, ligaments and joints for the next posture. The Bikram method also stimulates the organs, glands and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood to 100% of the body, restoring all systems to a healthy working order. Bikram scientifically designed this 90-minute program to deliver total health through the balancing and strengthening of every system in the body in order to prevent illness, injury, promote weight loss and limit the effects of aging. The series of postures combine skills of concentration, patience, determination and self-control which increase mental clarity and reduce stress. Bikram Yoga is practiced in a heated room to warm your muscles, allow a deeper workout and cleanse the body by flushing toxins.
