Become a junior biological illustrator and bring together the worlds of science and art. Learn about the history of this incredible field and how it is an important and useful tool in accurately recording information. We will look at examples of biological illustrations produced by professional artists and discuss the different techniques used such as graphite, pen and ink and colored pencils. We will also study and work with some of the tools that the artists use to produce precise and realistic drawings. Each successive day, students will choose specimens from nature’s classroom to draw using a different medium in order to produce their own beautiful works of scientific art. All art materials will be provided. For students ages 12 to 16.
