MADISON, CT — Flags will fly at half staff today in homage to longtime dedicated public servant, former First Selectman Tom Rylander.
First Selectman Tom Banisch ordered flags in Madison to half-staff today in Rylander's honor.

Rylander was first elected to First Selectman in 1991 and served until 1999. He also served as a Chairman on the Beach and Recreation Commission and as a member of the Board of Finance.
“Tom Rylander was a great guy. He got me involved in government by appointing me to the Charter Revision Commission. I will always appreciate that," Banisch said.

In a statement, the Town of Madison sent its "condolences to Mr. Rylander’s family and friends."
