MADISON, CT — The Hand football team advanced to the Class L semifinals with a 35-13 quarterfinal victory over No. 7 North Haven Tuesday night at the Surf Club in Madison. The second-seeded Tigers (10-1) will face No. 3 Windsor in the semifinals on Sunday afternoon at the Surf Club. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. Windsor (10-1) advanced with a 36-0 victory over sixth-seeded Maloney on Tuesday night.
Brian Casagrande scored three rushing touchdowns, including a backbreaking 41-yard run early in the third quarter to lead the Hand offense, according to GameTimeCT.
The tenacious Tiger defense kept North Haven’s Mark Montano, the SCC Co-Player of the Year, in check throughout the game. Montano, who spent much of the night and early morning in the hospital because of an ulcer, managed to score two touchdowns in the loss, Sean Patrick Bowley of GameTimeCT reports.
