MADISON, CT — Here are important dates for the 2016-17 school year in the Madison Public School System.

First day of school: Sept. 6

Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Oct. 3

Columbus Day (no school students): Oct. 10

Oct. 11 Professional Development: No school students

Yom Kippur (school closed): Oct. 12

Nov. 8 (no school for students)

Early Dismissal: Nov. 23

Thanksgiving (school closed): 23, 24, 25

Early Dismissal: Dec. 23

Winter break: Dec-26 to Jan. 2 (school resumes Jan. 3)

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan. 16

Early Dismissal: Jan. 24

Early Dismissal: Feb. 14

Presidents Day/ Winter Break (school closed): Feb. 20. 21

No School Students: March 10

Spring Break: April 10-14, which includes Good Friday

Early Dismissal: May 16

Memorial Day (school closed): May 29

Early Dismissal and Last Day of School: June 15

*Make-up days for unscheduled school closings will be added to the end of the school year through June 29. Additional days will be deducted from April Break beginning with April 14 and working backwards to April 10. Adopted by Board of Education January 5, 2016.
