Island Avenue School Briefly Evacuated Because of a Faulty Smoke Detector
It was just a minor disruption in the day, the school's principal wrote in an email to parents.

Island Avenue Principal Doreen O’Leary said the school was briefly evacuated because a faulty smoke detector triggered the school’s fire alarm.
“Despite the wet conditions, students and staff maintained a positive attitude as they followed fire drill protocol,” O’Leary wrote in a letter to parents. “After the fire department announced that we were ‘all-clear’, students and staff returned to the classroom for their usual afternoon routine. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact me.”
At least temperatures today were in the mid to upper 30s, and for the most part the precipitation has stopped for now, of course there might be more snow tonight and Thursday morning.
