Joanna Sponzo shares history on the designer brand Louis Vuitton.

Louis Vuitton is one of the most recognizable brands in the world; from their dramatic print to their style that is fit for those with a fashion sense, everyone dreams of wearing Louis Vuitton. But how did such a brand make a name for itself, not only with celebrities but with ordinary people also?

In 1837, Louis Vuitton moved to Paris to design trunks as a craftsman. He quickly became valued as he would create such specialized covers for travelers, and even going so far as taking custom orders. He worked at the Parisian atelier of Monsieur Marechal for 17 years before he started his own workshop at 4 Rue Neuve-des-Capucines near the Place Vendome.

Over one hundred years later, Louis Vuitton turned into a global clothing brand that focused not only on handbags but women's clothing also. This was masterminded by the one and only Marc Jacobs, and he continued to be the creative direct till 2013. In 2001, Jacobs collaborated with Stephen Sprouse who designed the infamous graffiti Louis Vuitton print that became recognizable to everyone across the world, no matter how much money they had to spend on the product. Everyone in the 2000’s new what Louis Vuitton was when they saw the colorful print on handbags and designer clothes.

Everyone wanted a bag, whether it was a tote that carried luggage or a small handbag that you could take out on dates with you.
