Joanna Sponzo, Management + Sponzo Properties, on Women's Day
Joanna Sponzo shares her thoughts on how to run a successful women's day campaign this year.

March 8th is international women’s day to celebrate social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women! This year, the theme #BalanceforBetter showcases the most powerful ways you can influence gender parity and celebrate women as a whole, and not only their contributions to society. Here are ways to run your own international women’s day campaign!
Identify your goals
The first step to running your own international women’s day campaign is identifying and understanding your goal. What are you trying to achieve during this day? Is it to influence behavior, change bias, cause-related marketing, etc? Knowing this will allow you to put the right things in place to make your voice heard. Your key message is what you will stand by during the campaign and moving on into the year. Make your goal whatever you believe in, and stand strong in the pursuit to bring awareness to it.
Identify your audience
After you’ve understood and identified your goals, you must identify your audience. Who do you want to reach? Is it communities, friends and families, school age students, the media, etc? Your audience should be another huge focus when running your own campaign. Making sure that they are understood and getting the information that they need is how your campaign will become a success. Your audience will also help promote the message and goals that you are working towards. Understanding who they are and the level of understanding they have will make a huge difference when trying to get things accomplished.
Decide what you can do
Once you’ve decided on both your goals and audience, the next step is deciding what you can do. Whether it is organizing a march, planning a female focused activity or launching a project, this next step is the basis of your campaign and what international women’s day is all about. Look for inspiration in those your surrounded by, organizations that you follow and just regular everyday obstacles that you as a woman face. Nothing is too small of a problem to discuss, let your campaign focus on the things that you believe are important.
International Women’s day is important to showcase commitment to women’s equality, take action and celebrate achievements! It is celebrated globally, and March 8th is your chance to take charge and stand up for what you believe in.
