Joanna Sponzo shares her personal opinion on the best destinations to go flower chasing around the world.
As they say, April showers bring May flowers and now is the start of flower season! Around the world there are many different types of flowers that bloom, some that you can only experience in different countries and climates. Here are the top 3 destinations to travel too if you are flower chasing.
Mount Fuji, Japan
Although very far away, Japan has some of the most beautiful flower gardens in the world. The Shibazakura is a flower that grows in vibrant pinks and covers the entire ground. Many travel to Japan and make sure this is a stop on their list. It is a beautiful sight to see with the vibrant flowers along with the mountain tops. Each year from April 13th through May 26th they host a festival in the town of Fuji Kawaguchiko to display the beauty of these flowers.
Washington, DC
This city is known for their beautiful cherry blossoms trees in the springtime. The National Cherry Blossom Festival takes place from March 20th through April 14th. If you are looking for the best place to snap a photo, check out Tidal Basin or Memorial Loop for the best views and scenery. Throughout the season, travelers have the ability to sign up to sip on cherry blossom afternoon tea and even try floral-infused pastries at a The St. Regis D.C and if you are a fan of crepes, head over to The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown for a cherry blossom crepe!

Marigold Fields, Bali
Our list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the beautiful country of Bali where marigolds grow alongside the road. These beautiful fields are filled with hues of orange, yellow and gold more many miles. In this region, marigolds are used to make spiritual offerings so they are very prominent and meaningful to the country and culture. These flowers grow wildly and can be up to 2 feet tall, allowing travelers to walk paths surrounded by the beautiful golden flower.
Every destination has a different floral beauty to it, whether you want to see vibrant pinks or hues of yellow; flower chasing is always a good idea. They are the beauty of the world and should be enjoyed all over, whether it’s sitting in memorial park in Washington, DC or driving down a long road in Bali.
