Just Another Beautiful Sunset At Hammonasset Beach State Park

It won't be news to anyone that Hammonasset Beach State Park is a great place to watch the sunset.

And to prove that point, we are providing you with a picture taken by Michelle Kiley from Friends of Hammonasset, who yesterday evening took this picture with her iPhone 4 and then posted it to the Friends of Hammonasset (FOH) Facebook page.

Kiley tells us the picture was taken at the creek bridge on Beach Road in the Hammonasset Beach State Park campground.

"Caught it right before it started to fade," she said.

Sunset Friday night is at 8:02 p.m. The forecast for Friday night is mostly cloudy, with a low around 68, with a gentle south wind between 5 and 9 mph, according to the National Weather Service. The clouds could obscure the sunset, but if it doesn't, the clouds could make for another spectacular scene as the sun sinks into the horizon. Sunday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Cloudy, with a high near 81. South wind between 8 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Sunday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. North wind between 8 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
