2 CT Residents Dead in Kayaking Accident, 2 Others Injured: UPDATE
Four people launched a kayak from Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison Sunday. Two Connecticut residents are confirmed dead.

UPDATE, 3:30 p.m.
The body of a Connecticut man was discovered in Long Island Sound off Madison, Conn., Monday afternoon, Long Island authorities said.
Four kayakers had launched from Madison's Hammonasset Beach State Park Sunday night, but an accident led to two deaths and two others injured. A body of one man was found on a beach in the Suffolk County Long Island town of Southold, N.Y., early Monday, according to officials.

The body of missing kayaker Ferdinand Lagos, 39, of Manchester, Conn., was found at 12:15 p.m. in Connecticut Monday, police said.
The body of Abdias Ventura, 30, of Hartford, was found on a beach in Long Island. Delfina Reynoso, 26, and her daughter, Damaris Reynoso, 8, both of Hartford, were found on the Long Island beach suffering from hypothermia.

More details about the tragedy are becoming known now via the Southold Police Department in Long Island.
"At 3:43 a.m. an Orient resident was awakened by the yelling for help from the beach in front of their house and called police. Upon the arrival of an officer, he found two females on the beach suffering from hypothermia.
Upon further investigation it was discovered that 26 year-old Delfina Reynoso and her 8 year-old daughter, Damaris Reynoso, both of Hartford Connecticut, had launched a kayak and stand-up paddleboard from Hammonasset Park in Madison, Connecticut with Abdias Ventura, 30, of Hartford and Ferdinand Lagos, 39 of Manchester.
Wind and tide pushed the two watercraft offshore by 9 p.m. Sunday night. Reynoso and her daughter landed onshore in Orient, the deceased body of Abdias Ventura was located onshore about 1/4 mile west of the women.
The US Coast Guard coordinated a search for Mr. Lagos which includes Southold Police, and Cutchogue, Southold, Greenport. East Marion and Orient Fire Departments.
Update as of 12:15 p.m. a body matching the description of Mr. Lagos was recovered in the L.I. Sound off the shore of Connecticut.

UPDATE 10 a.m.: One person has died, two others are injured on Long Island and a fourth person is still missing in Connecticut waters in what appears to be a kayaking accident, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officials said Monday morning.
Crews are searching for a missing kayaker at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison who went missing sometime Sunday night. The missing person is a 44-year-old Manchester man, DEEP said.
While the search continues for the missing man, the story of tragedy begins in Long Island.
Details are still sparse for now, but DEEP spokesman Dennis Schain said "one person was pronounced dead in Long Island this morning and two others taken to the hospital after they were found on a beach in the Suffolk County Long Island town of Southold, N.Y."
"A fourth person who was apparently with them when they set off with a kayak and a paddleboard from Hammonasset Beach State Park, Madison, sometime Sunday evening is still missing according to the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation (EnCon) police," Schain's statement continued.
The deceased is a 31-year-old male, Schain said. He was pronounced dead by Long Island authorities in Southold. The two others – an adult female and a young girl – were taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital where they are being treated for hypothermia and are in stable condition, Schain said.
The woman and youngster were found on the beach early Monday morning after their calls were heard by a nearby resident. The deceased was located a short distance away, Schain said.
EnCon Police are assisting the Southold Police Department in the investigation. There is still an ongoing search for the missing person involving the U.S. Coast Guard and multiple local fire departments.

The kayaker went missing Sunday night.
