Madison Approves Purchase of LeSage Property: Report

The money is coming from the town's undesignated fund balance.

MADISON, CT — No more renting, the town of Madison now owns the LeSage property that is home to fields the town utilizes.

The Madison Source reports that the purchase price is $800,000 for the 4.7 acre of land at 351 Copse Road.

The town had leased the land for the past 12 years. There has been talk that the town may want the land if it decides to build a new school but officials say that had zero motivation for purchasing the property, the Source reports.

The funds for the purchase come from the town's undesignated fund balance. Over 12 years the town paid $341,000 to lease the land.
