Madison Creates Senior Tax Relief Committee

The members of the committee were named Monday night.

Senior tax relief could be on the way for some Madison residents.

One of the top issues in the most recent municipal election centered on senior tax relief.

On Monday, the Madison Board of Selectmen approved forming a 5-person committee to study the issue, the New Haven Register reports.

Members include finance board member Scott Gyllensten, banker Peter Thomas, financial planner Craig Bernard, and two local seniors, Herb Gram and Ron Hick, the Register adds. The committee hopes to have a draft by April 1. Last month, Gyllensten presented a plan which he said could cost residents about $135,000 annually or about $60 a year for each non-participant, the Madison Source’s Jack Kramer reported at the time.
