Madison Eats Cupcakes, Drinks Wine, And Shops
You missed it? Too bad! But Asiye's new ad featuring Madison and surrounding towns, which was the point of the celebration, will be airing soon. And her 50-percent-off sale is running for another week or so.
Asiye Kay, the owner of Asiye's, threw a party in downtown Madison Sunday evening. Attendees ate cupcakes, drank wine and browsed the racks of her clothes (50 percent off) and gowns (30 percent off).
The point of the party was Asiye's new ad, produced by Sonia Bagdady, a news anchor for WTNH-News 8, working with Cinematographer Max Lipka, of Sparrow Visuals in Groton. The ad includes scenes from Branford and Madison. Were you at Madison Beach Hotel on July 4th? You might have seen this crew there getting their ad on.

The theme of the ad is "youthful, carefree, summer fun," Bagdady said, which also seemed to be the theme of the Sunday night party.
The party featured wine from Madison Wine Shop across the street, several tiers of gourmet cupcakes from Sugar Bakery & Sweet Shop in East Haven, and hors d'oeuvres. Entertainment included a fashion show, including the dresses featured in the ad, along with a make-up lesson from Deanna Nickel of d.d. Nickel Makeup Studio in New Haven, and a lesson in how to French braid your hair to keep it off your face in the sultry summer heat from Amanda Esteban of Urbane Salon in Guilford.
