Banisch during the campaign said his main focus is on economic development and making Madison self-sufficient and less reliant on the state for funding, which continues to be cut.

He said he also will tackle ways seniors issues if elected.

“It’s important to give back and to give of yourself to others,” Banisch said. “That’s what I want people to know. I care about the people of this town, and I care for this town. I put my heart and soul into everything I do.”

During the campaign, Walker said she’d enact a senior tax freeze if elected to ensure seniors no longer are priced out of town. She said the town needs to add more affordable senior housing and housing for young families.

“We need to have a senior tax freeze. We need to allow and give our seniors a chance to remain in their house until they decide to leave. They can’t be forced out,” Walker said.
