Critical differences between me and my opponents:
After almost 4 years on the Board of Education, I have a wealth of experience and perspective. I am ready to hit the ground running on the many important tasks we have ahead of us, including a much-needed and long-overdue facilities renewal plan.
Accomplishments:
I currently serve as Chair of the Facilities Committee and on the Executive Committee. I sit on the Policy Committee, and previously served as Chair of that committee as well. I have also served as the LEARN liaison on the Curriculum and Student Development Committee, and was appointed to a special ad hoc committee focused on school security with Madison Public Schools and the Madison Police Commission. During my time on the board, we have instituted important policy and committee changes, created a new facilities committee, went through a successful superintendent search process, and put forward a thoughtful facilities renewal plan.
Other issues:
I am open to different perspectives and viewpoints, and I understand the roles, responsibilities, and limitations of the Board.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
I have two school-age children who have been in Madison Public Schools since kindergarten. They have been impacted by school closures, redistricting, and remote learning. I am invested in this work for my kids, and for all of Madison. We all benefit from great schools. My professional training and expertise brings a unique and valuable perspective to the board: I am a Licensed Master Social Worker, and also have a Masters degree in Public Health. I currently work with local municipalities and community coalitions to prevent and reduce high-risk substance use among youth.
