The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

Preparing our young people for the changed world they will live and work in. To that end, supporting the school renewal program and providing 21st century learning environments that are safe and supportive and allow every student to flourish.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

I have had a lifetime of designing and implementing high-achieving schools that reach every single student. I have worked closely with some of the pillars in education nationally and internationally. I understand the largely untapped potential of students themselves in shaping their education. I understand what works and what doesn’t work in educational practice and one size fits all does not work.

Accomplishments:

I have been a leader and administrator in education for many years. I have worked on state level committees and know how to work toward consensus.

Other issues:

I believe in educational practices that produce mastery and competency and being able to apply what is learned. I believe in a comprehensive safety net for students and their physical and emotional health. I believe in strengthening student voices in the educational process. I believe in multiple pathways to success and career and technical education.

What else would you like voters to know about you?

I have always been and continue to be entirely focused on student outcomes and properly preparing them for our best understanding of what their future will demand. Every action and choice is preceded by “how will this help students?”
