MADISON, CT – As we hit the height of the summer tourist season people tend to flock to not just the beach but also to downtown to enjoy shopping and dining in the nice weather.

But town officials are asking, and warning, residents and visitors to popular Madison downtown that there are limited parking spaces available so parking rules will be enforced.

Monday through Friday there is a 3-hour time limit for any one vehicle to be parked downtown.

Selectman Al Goldberg said at the most recent Board of Police Commissioners meeting that Police Chief Jack Drumm wanted to “remind” everyone that the 3-hour limit will be enforced during the busy summer season.

First Selectman Tom Banisch also chimed in that the 3-hour time for cars to be in one spot was one-hour more than the previous 2-hour limit, so he said, hopefully that will be enough time for people to tend to whatever business or recreation they are participating in downtown and vacate the space for the next vehicle.
