Madison Eyes Increasing Certain User Fees: Report

A public hearing has been scheduled on the proposed ordinance.

MADISON, CT — The town is considering raising user fees associated with inspections and permits issued or overseen by the fire marshal, health and building departments, the Madison Source reports.

A public hearing on the proposal will be held 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12 at Town Campus.

First Selectman Thomas Banisch said the fees are currently too low. For example, it costs about $15 for building inspectors to conduct re-inspections and that could increase under the proposal to $50 for each re-inspection, the Source reports.

Town officials say they just want the town's fees to cover the services that are being provided and also be more in line with what other communities charge.
