Minimum Training and Experience Required To Perform Essential Job Functions: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology or closely related clinical field with three (3) years of related case work experience.
Must have and maintain the State of Connecticut License to Counsel (LCSW, LMFT, LPC) upon hire or the ability to obtain the license within three (3) years from date of appointment. Position requires the possession of a valid State of Connecticut driver’s license. Position also requires clearance of a background investigation.
Position Purpose: to provide assessment, counseling services (group and/or individual) and case management for “at-risk” adolescents in school, in order to meet their academic, social, emotional and/or physical needs.
Meets with students and their families outside of school hours; may occasionally be required to provide services at students home. Provide/coordinate case management and crisis intervention services; counseling. Conducts interviews for juveniles referred by schools, police, Courts or private organizations; performs and/or coordinates assessment and evaluation to determine program eligibility; provides crisis assessment and intervention.
Collaborates with outside mental health professional’s medical professionals, school personnel, courts, probation, Department of Child and Family Services or other social service agencies. Coordinates efforts with other department staff. Coordinates referrals of drug/alcohol school policy offenders. Maintains availability on call to respond to emergencies. Attends various town/department meetings as required.
