Madison To Hold Public Hearing On Proposed Charter Changes
The hearing will be held on Sept. 3.

Do you think the Madison town charter needs changing? Well you’ll have your opportunity to voice your thoughts at a public hearing 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at the Town Campus Building.
The Board of Selectmen has targeted 13 areas for possible review including: reviewing quorum requirements for town meetings, whether or not an annual town meeting is even needed, considering instituting a quorum form of government, and reviewing the members of certain commissions, the Source publications reports.
First Selectman Fillmore McPherson told The Source’s Jack Kramer that turnout at the polls and town meetings has been so low. He also noted that some committees have not been active for some time and he’d like to see them disbanded, while other committees could be expanded.
