MADISON, CT - The town of Madison is hiring for the position of health director. Anyone interested in applying must submit their resume by April 1. The salary range is between $72,537 to $100,746. The position is available due to a retirement and the job posting also states that the town is also considering joining a health district too.

Position Title: Director of Health*
Hours of Work: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Salary Range: Salary Grade 16 $72,537.12 - $100,746.00 salary based upon experience

The Town of Madison is accepting applications for the position of Director of Health. Completed applications must be received in the Human Resources Department no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday April 1, 2016. Applications can be submitted from the website at www.madisonct.org.
Minimum Training and Experience Required To Perform Essential Job Functions: Graduate degree in Public Health from an accredited institution or a licensed physician holding a degree in Public Health and three (3) years of experience in Public Health Administration.
Registered Sanitarian, and/or certification as a Connecticut Food Inspector and Septic Inspection Phase 1 and Phase 2 highly desirable. Applicable Graduate degree must be achieved prior to the Candidate commencing employment with the Town of Madison. Candidate must possess a valid Connecticut Driver’s License and be able to successfully complete a complex background investigation. Municipal experience is highly desirable.
Position Purpose: Directs the operations and programs of the Health Department. Enforces relevant portions of Connecticut General Statutes and Public Health Code. Oversees and responds to environmental issues; performs infectious disease surveillance in the community.
Performs soil tests; reviews permits, recommends layouts and inspects final construction on upgrades/repairs to septic systems. Reviews revision requests, approves plans for engineered septic systems. Enforces all relevant Town and State health codes and ordinances. Provides reports and statistical data to the State Department of Public Health; works collectively with the Water Pollution Control Authority and the Shellfish Commission.
Monitors health status to identify and solve community health problems; investigates health hazards; informs, educates and empowers person in the community regarding health issues; mobilizes community partnerships; develops polices and plans to support community health efforts; provides resources to the community relating to public health, evaluates effectiveness and accessibility to health services.
