Madison Named One Of East Coast's Best Beach Towns

MADISON, CT — Condé Nast Traveler magazine has named Madison one of the East Coast's 20 best beach towns to visit.

Madison is the only Connecticut town to make the list.

The magazine set out to list the beach towns that offer a little something for everyone, looking at the 14 states that make up the East Coast.

"From charming, historic New England towns to tropical Southern getaways, no matter your vibe there's so much to explore," the story reads. "We've compiled a list of some of the best beach towns to go to on this side of the Atlantic coast, perfect for family vacations to the shore, solo trips for a bit of solitude, group getaways for fun in the sun, and more."

The reasons Madison made the list are its "adorable downtown" and four quiet beaches to choose from.

"Just under two hours from New York City by car, Madison is about the same distance as the Hamptons, but way less crowded," the magazine writes. "This isn't exactly the place the see and be seen, but it is somewhere where you can truly get away from it all—even if just for the weekend."

The magazine recommends Madison Beach Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton; Inn at Harbor Hill Marina; or Postcard Cabins as places to stay.
