Madison Nursing Home Cited After Patients Repeatedly Fall: Report

In both cases the patients ended up suffering a broken bone, according to the report by the Connecticut Health Investigative Team.

The Connecticut Health I-Team reports that the Madison based nursing home, Watrous Nursing Center was fined $1,510 and $1,370 for cases involving residents falling numerous times leading to broken bones, reports Kate Farrish.

One resident fell eight times between a two-month period of time earlier this year and hit their head on a chair. A neck bone was broken and the facility was citing for not notifying the doctor of the patient’s neck pain for several days, Farrish reports.

Then another resident at the facility fell 22 times in a five-month stretch leading to head injuries and a broken hand bone. Watrous Nursing Center was cited for its fall prevention practices not working well, according to the report.
