Police said a man in an older model grey/silver BMW 5 series went up to children near the West Wharf Beach parking lot last Tuesday around 8:20 p.m. and tried to get them into his car to help him find Pokemon.

"This individual asked the children to come with him to go get Pokemon. Early investigation reveals that this individual may have been specifically targeting children on their cell phones playing the popular game. It is important to note that at no time did any child get into the car with this individual," said Sgt. Joe Race in a news release that was issued last week.

This individual drove through the parking lot at West Wharf several times and attempted to make contact with several groups of children, Race said.

This individual was last seen driving eastbound on Middle Beach Road. The BMW is described as possibly bearing a Connecticut early American license plate, the first two letters may be I – A, police said.
