Madison Police Officer Honored for Keeping the Streets Safe

The Madison Police Department was also cited for its overall traffic safety programs as well.

Madison Police Sgt. Brian Phillips was honored recently by AAA Northeast for his efforts to ensure safety on the roadway as he’s led the department in DUI arrests over the past several years.

His overall record of arrests led to the award.

AAA Northeast recently honored the Madison Police Department with a Silver Award for the department’s outstanding traffic safety programs. In addition, AAA recognized Sgt. Brian Phillips as a department-nominated Traffic Safety Hero.

At AAA’s 6th Annual Community Traffic Safety Awards lunch recently at Testo’s in Bridgeport, AAA representatives recognized the department for community traffic safety programs that include an active teen alcohol and drug education program; a bicycle safety awareness program; and DUI enforcement activities, among other initiatives.

Sgt. Phillips was recognized for his continued DUI arrest efforts over the last four years. He led the department in such arrests from 2011 - 2014 and continues to rank at or near the top in overall motor vehicle enforcement activities. In addition, Officer Phillips was responsible for the department obtaining a CT DOT DUI Enforcement Grant.
