Madison Property on the Market for $2.9M

The property was once targeted to be a motel or restaurant, but residents opposed the idea.

A property at the corner of New Road and the Connector is for sale for $2.9 million and in the past the parcel has generated some controversy, economic development officials said.

Members of Madison’s Economic Development Commission are discussing possible uses for the site, according to meeting minutes.

One possible option would be a well-designed corporate office. Ryan Duques noted that approximately eight years ago an effort was made for approval of an interchange zone to allow a motel or restaurant at this location.

The EDC supported this proposal but there was a substantial amount of public opposition and it did not move forward. Jim Ball commented that there was also some discussion about a medical complex at this site in the past.

Duques recommended that REX be contacted to provide input into possible options for this site. It was noted that the upper piece is 8.5 acres and the lower piece is 2.5 acres. There is a $2.9 million price on the property. Dave Anderson agreed to provide more details on this project at the next EDC meeting.
