Madison Proposed Budget Includes Closing A School: Report
The overall town and school budget requests would lead to a tax increase for residents.

MADISON, CT — Madison's $84.5 million proposed budget for fiscal 19-20 would increase spending by $1.4 million or 1.77 percent and would result in a slight tax hike for residents, according to the New Haven Register.
The biggest news item in the proposed budget is the closing of Island Avenue Elementary School and the elimination of two teaching positions at Daniel Hand High School due to declining enrollment, the Register reports.
Other positions proposed to be cut including an administrative position, but the district is looking to hire a K-3 counselor, a speech language pathologist and a literacy coach, according to the Register.
