Madison Receives Funds For Harbor Improvement Project

Sixteen different Connecticut municipalities this week had Small Harbor Improvement Projects approved for state funding. The total amount of funding that will be handed out tops $4 million.

The money allotted is under the jurisdiction of the Connecticut Port Authority’s “Grants-In-Aid” for improvements to ports and marinas. The work includes dreading and navigational directional work.

The money awarded, and for what work is outlined below:

—Essex, update harbor management plan/study harbor - $42,500;

—Fairfield, update harbor management plan/reconstruct/dredge boat ramp, $272,500;

—Norwich, update harbor management plan, $7,500;

—Wethersfield, new boat ramp, $765,000;

—West Haven, boat ramp feasibility study, $59,800;

—Clinton, reconstruct/dredge boat ramp, $110,000;

—Stamford, West Beach Boat Ramp and Docks, $120,000;

—Madison, marina study, $90,000;

—Milford, Lisman Landing dock repairs, $398,000;

—Norwalk, reconstruction of visitors docks, $908,250;

—Groton, Town – new Nautilus Dock, $730,000;

—Groton, City – new Thames Street Dock, $54,400;

—Waterford, Mago Point Mooring/Dock, $35,000;

—Stratford, Emergency Service Dock, $13,700;

—Chester, design and planning for Chester Creek dredging, $15,000;

—Stonington, South Pier/Town Dock dredging and breakwater reconstruction, $390,000
