Ms. Raff stated that there has been $140,000 in donations received for the trail from roughly 618 families. The Hammonasset section has had 100 or more volunteers working on the trail. Ms. Raff also noted the organizations which have donated to the trail.
Beginning in January, the trail became part of the state’s trail census which totals the usage of the trail. She stated that the trail has the potential to go from New Haven to the Connecticut River. Ms. Raff noted that the trail is an asset for economic development and attracting new residents. However, if construction isn’t underway by 2019, the funding is in jeopardy of being lost.
