Madison's Kiley McKinnon Completes Her Olympics

She competed in the finals of her sport on Friday.

UPDATE: Madison's Kiley McKinnon, 22, finished 10th in the finals of the women's aerials Friday morning as she earned a score of 80.95 and didn't make it to the final group of six, the Hartford Courant reports. The gold medal winning score was 96.14 which went to a Belarus contestant.

The Madison community and beyond has been strongly supporting Kiley.


MADISON, CT — Congratulations are in order for Madison's Kiley McKinnon, 22, as she qualified for the finals in the women's aerials, which is scheduled to occur 6 a.m. Friday east coast time.

McKinnon's first jump didn't go smoothly but on her second jump she had a perfect landing and earned a score of 87.88, NBC Connecticut reports.

"In her second jump, McKinnon brought the degree of difficulty down, attempting a back full-full. She had impressive form in the air, only breaking her legs a little bit, and had a perfect landing worth a score of 87.88. She qualified just above Olsen in the second-to-last spot for the finals," NBC Olympics reports.

According to the official Team USA Olympics website, McKinnon placed fourth in the 2017 world championship and she earned a silver back in 2015 during the world championship.

She began skiing at age 3 and "was inspired to try aerials skiing by elementary classmate Mac Bohonnon in 2010...Enjoys hiking, road biking, skiing, traveling, playing soccer and lacrosse, and spending time with her dog," the Team USA website states.
