Madison Senior Center Opens Cooling Center As Temperatures Soar

Masks must be worn the entire time residents are inside the cooling center, unless it's "medically unsafe to do so," town officials said.

MADISON, CT — The Madison Senior Center will be open Monday until 4 p.m. as a cooling center.

"Beat the heat, stop by and cool off," a message from the town reads. "It is extremely important to make sure you are property hydrated, especially during a heat wave. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids."

To enter the building, masks will be required the entire duration of your stay (unless it is medically unsafe for you to do so). We request that you NOT enter the building if any of the following apply to you:

  • You are experiencing and cold/flu like symptoms or any of the COVID-19 symptoms.
  • You have been in contact with anyone in the past 14 days that has tested positive for the coronavirus.
  • If with-in the past 14 days, you have traveled to another state that Connecticut is requiring the 14-day self-quarantine.

A senior center staff member will give residents additional social distancing instructions upon entry.
