The calendar of dates includes vacations, early dismissal and days off.

The first day of school is here. With that in mind, here are important dates for the 2015-16 school year in the Madison Public School System.

First day of school: Aug. 26

Labor Day (school closed): Sept. 7

Yom Kippur (school closed): Sept. 23

Professional Development (school closed for students): October 12

October 21, 22: K-4 early dismissal for parent conferences

Professional Development (no school students): November 10

November 25: early dismissal

Thanksgiving (school closed): Nov. 26-27

Winter break early dismissal: Dec. 23

Winter break: Dec. 24-Jan. 3 (school resumes Jan. 4)

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan. 18

January 26 (early dismissal)

Feb. 3, 4 (early dismissal for K-4 only for parent conferences)

Presidents Day/ Winter Break (school closed): Feb. 12, Feb. 15

Professional Development (no school for students): Feb. 16
