Madison Warns Residents Of Land Use Billing Scam

MADISON, CT — Madison officials are warning land use applicants of a new financial scam.
Some applicants have reported receiving emails that request additional fee payments. Such emails are fake.
"Note that these emails are not from the Town of Madison but may seem convincing, with the scammers providing specific project details that they were able to find online," officials wrote in a statement.

The town's land use departments, Planning and Zoning Commission, Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Agency, and Zoning Board of Appeals "DO NOT email invoices and DO NOT accept wire transfers."
In the event that you receive a questionable bill, refer to the town's Fee Schedule and contact the Land Use Department at landuse@madisonct.org for clarification.
