Madison Working To Address Tree Issues
Madison has a lot of trees and because of that it can lead to maintenance concerns.

MADISON, CT – Everyone who lives in town knows that one of the great assets in Madison is the thousands upon thousands of beautiful trees that line the town.
But there are also headaches, and possible hazards, associated with those trees that town officials acknowledge need addressing, in part because if trees fell on property and/or people, the town could be liable.

“Madison’s a town with tons of trees,” said First Selectman Tom Banisch at the most recent selectmen meeting.
Banisch said some of the trees are the responsibility of the electric company – as far as trimming and taking down are concerned and some are the towns.

“It’s in the works,” Banisch said. “There’s a lot of work to do. It’s an ongoing process.”
Fellow Selectman Bruce Wilson said he had heard from residents, also, concerned about the “health of trees along various roadways.”
“It is something we want to take care of,” Wilson said. “Gypsy moths have done their damage.”
