Madison police said the accused is being held on a $750,000 bond.

MADISON, CT — A Madison man is accused of scamming an elderly woman out of nearly $600,000 by claiming he had cancer when in fact he used the money to purchase personal items including a house, police said.
Madison police said on August 11 James J. Cicarella, 33, of Yankee Peddler Path in Madison turned himself on an arrest warrant. Cicarella is charged with first-degree larceny and was held on a $750,000 bond.
Cicarella’s arrest stems from an investigation in which he is accused of defrauding an elderly female of $578,466 during the years 2013- 2014 factiously claiming that he suffered from pre-leukemia, said Captain Joseph Race in a news release.
