MADISON, CT – Ninety-six new applicants have qualified to participate in the town’s Senior Tax Relief program, now entering its second year in operation.
Twenty-two applicants for the program, which was started last year, were rejected because they did not qualify due to either not living in town long enough or having too much income.

The senior tax relief program was approved at town meeting last year and was designed to ensure that the amount of money allocated for seniors does not exceed 1 percent of the previous year’s town total and education budgets.
The cost of the program is borne by the rest of the taxpayers in town.
