MOXIE 'Forced' To Close For Now As A Result Of Staffing Shortage
Owner of the popular eatery said a staff shortage led to a "very abbreviated menu, inconsistent hours" and affected service, food quality.
MADISON, CT — Bill Plunkett penned a missive to MOXIE's customers on Facebook.
In what reads as heartrending, Plunkett admits that owing to the inability to find staff, the restaurant, and the customer experience, has suffered.
So for now, MOXIE, the new American cuisine eatery on Wall Street, is closing its doors. But Plunkett hopes to get a full staff in place and develop a new drink and dinner menu and reopen sometime in this autumn:

"As you know, we’ve struggled to put together a full team for quite some time, which in turn has required us to implement a (very) abbreviated menu.
This, the inconsistent hours of operation, and other factors, have adversely affected food quality, service and the overall MOXIE experience.

Given these facts, I’m forced to close the doors until such time as a full staff can be found. This will give us time to develop a new drink and dinner menu, do some renovating and get some systems in place to improve overall service and reopen this fall better than ever!
Your patience and loyalty through these difficult times have been greatly appreciated.
For this, I thank you. So this is not a goodbye, but a see you later ..."
Back in April, the search was on for staff. The restaurant was offering an hourly pay rate of $18 to $24 an hour and sign-on bonuses. And at the time, announced that it needed to offer an "abbreviated menu."
"We are working around the clock to fill our staffing needs to bring back all your MOXIE favorites. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your support," a post on its Facebook page read.
