New Path for Greenway Trail in Madison: Recreation Update

Also local officials are trying to contain lacrosse balls from flying into a park's parking lot.

MADISON, CT — The Madison Park, Beach and Recreation Commission held a meeting earlier this month and a couple of interesting topics were discussed.

One centered on extending the Greenway Trail and another centered on a unique situation occurring at Salt Meadow Park.

Salt Meadow Park

  1. Committee discussed Net System at the North End of Field 1 to help prevent Lacrosse balls from reaching the parking lot and to help stop participants from running into the parking lot. Motion by Shane Kokoruda to have Salt Meadow Committee discuss at their next meeting and come back with their recommendation back to the Commission for their consideration. Second by Emily Rosenthal. Motion carried with Mike Ciotti Abstaining.

i. Trail extension between Lovers Lane and Scotland Avenue is no longer being considered. Committee is working to bring the trail into Madison from Guilford along Route 1 to Nathans Lane. Guilford experiencing some difficulties with acceptance of their proposed section and are holding Open Forums in the field to discuss plans with concerned residents.
