New Superintendent May Be Kids' New Favorite: Snow Day Thursday

As one of his very first decisions, Dr. Craig Cooke says Thursday will be a traditional snow day and hopes students will "enjoy the day."

"After reviewing the weather reports and consulting with our district staff I have decided that tomorrow will be a traditional snow day. I hope all students enjoy the day and take the time to get outside when it is safe to do so," Dr. Craig Cooke said.

MADISON, CT — Madison's new schools chief is going to be popular with a lot of students when they hear that he's decided that Thursday will be a traditional snow day.

"After reviewing the weather reports and consulting with our district staff I have decided that tomorrow, Thursday December 17th, will be a traditional snow day. I hope all students enjoy the day and take the time to get outside when it is safe to do so," Dr. Craig Cooke wrote in a message to families.

"Depending on the size and timing of the storm, the roads may not be clear enough for our school buses on Friday, December 18th," he said, "If that is the case, all of MPS will engage in remote learning and all schools will follow a shortened academic day schedule, which will be 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Engaging in remote learning means we would not need to make up the day at the end of the school year. The schedule for each school will be posted by the end of the day on our district website."
