Obituary: Allan R. Klein, 83, former Madison Postmaster

Allan R. Klein, husband of the late Rosemarie Romano, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016.

He is survived by his brother, Henry Klein of Horatio, SC; his sisters, Doris Sayers of East Haven and Marian Young of Northford, along with many nieces and nephew and grand nieces and nephews and his loving partner Pauline Vizzini of West New York, New Jersey.

He was born on July 16, 1932 in New Haven, CT. After graduation from Hill House High School he served three years with the Navy Seabees. Although a trained carpenter, he made the decision to make the US Postal Service his career, retiring as Postmaster in Madison in 1987.

Afterwards he worked for C.R. Gibson and Fonicello’s Garden Center. He was also an active member of the Guilford Lions Club for 25 years; holding various posts including President of the Club. Mr. Klein was an avid gardener, gourmet cook and loved to travel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford, on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 11:30 am. Calling hours will be held prior to the Mass from 9 – 11 am at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Burial with Military Honors will follow Mass in Nut Plains Rd, Guilford.
